INTERNATIONAL FINE ART CONSERVATION STUDIOS

CONSERVATION SERVICES

Ifacs Studio

Our Conservation Services

We provide a professional service to all our customers, from the private individual to the large institutions and corporations. Some of our major contractors include several national heritage organisations, major auction houses, county councils, and church councils, among others. Projects may range from easel paintings and wall paintings to historic decorative interiors.

Other services include the conservation of works of art involving numerous other techniques and materials, such as polychrome sculpture, frames and mixed media works. In addition, we offer a full consultancy service that includes environmental surveys, art-historical research and the provision of advice on after-care and the display of artworks. In addition, IFACS can also provide full technical analysis of paint and media samples.

Studio Facilities

IFACS conservators undertake a wide variety of work at the studios in Bristol, and also out on site, around the UK and abroad.  Our spacious studios mean that outsize works can be easily accommodated alongside small pieces.

The studio prides itself on being able to solve the seemingly unsolvable. Every work of art is treated as a unique piece and the treatment it receives is tailored to its specific history and needs. IFACS conservators are both informed and flexible, and able to approach a problem with professional consideration and inventiveness alike. Previous innovations include new methods for the transport and treatment of substantial works, as well as designing new support and hanging mechanisms, to meet a variety of display criteria.
